SLEEPING BEAUTY: A PANTO AWAKENING (2022)

Director
Capitol Theatre Port Hope
November-December 2022

In our tale, Sleeping Beauty is at the centre of a conflict between the two telecommunications giants in Canada. With Maleficent trying to regain her power, a Prince who solves every problem with a kiss, and a kind and gentle Sasquatch, this fairytale re-telling pokes fun at cancel culture, performative politics, corporate greed, and our divisive society—all wrapped up in one entertaining musical package!

This was my first time ever working on a panto, and certainly my first time trying to develop one from the ground up. I gained a lot of respect for the genre through the process, while getting to work with a phenomenal group of hilarious folks.
