ELECTRIC MESSIAH IV (2018)

A bona fide Toronto holiday favourite, “Electric Messiah” re-imagines George Frideric Handel’s great masterpiece with inspirations from jazz, gospel, blues, hip hop and of course, classical. While audiences will hear themes, fragments and reminders of Handel, Ear Candy’s aim is not to come up with an arrangement of his Messiah. That’s because Ear Candy takes great care and pleasure in deconstructing this masterpiece, stripping it down to its essence and re-imagining it in unfamiliar settings that both surprise and delight audiences.

I was delighted to take on this unique project as a director. Working with such a diverse group of artists, in such a unique space, meant that we were able to take risks, try new things, and ultimately play! We created something uniquely ours, and I was very proud of the work.
