YOU ARE HERE: A NEW MUSICAL (2016)

Assistant Director
Thousand Islands Playhouse
April 2016

On the night of the 1969 moon landing, an ordinary housewife walks out on her husband for no real reason. She has never been unhappy; she simply sees the astronauts taking that great step and is struck by the realization that some people lead exciting lives. And so she sets out to find one for herself. You Are Here is a musical that asks whether the grass is always greener on the other side.

What a joy it was to work alongside the brilliant Robert McQueen as he directed the world premiere of this new musical by Bartram and Hill. Each day of rehearsal was rigorous, with the writers making changes and re-working material. Linda Kash, our stunning performer, would create characters and situations on the spot, often influencing text changes, while creating a fully-realized world. Being a little voice in this room was a dream come true, and I feel so privileged to have spent time with these amazing creative minds.
