VIOLET’S THE PILOT (2016)

Director
Thousand Islands Playhouse
April 2016

Today is Violet’s big day. In front of a crowd of reporters, she’s about to become the world’s youngest pilot. But just when she’s ready to make history, disaster strikes. And his name is Bud. Surprising a crowd of reporters, he’s about to become the world’s youngest protestor. Technology versus the environment. Ambition versus responsibility. Violet versus Bud. Who will win? Only the pack of reporters – our audience – can decide what tomorrow’s headline will say.

Directing this piece was once again a part of my role as Associate Artistic Director at the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque, Ontario. I really loved working with the 2016 Young Company (recent grads and current students in post-secondary institutions), as it involved not only direction, but also team-building, education, training, and facilitation. Plus, this is another phenomenal new children’s script by Canadian Jason Hall, following his success with last year’s Rose’s Clothes.
