THE CANADIAN (2018)

Director & Dramaturg
Thousand Islands Playhouse
July-August 2018

A small-town waterfront resort is threatened by overdue bank loans and a condo developer looking to build on the site. Just then, an eccentric Hollywood writer storms into town with a list of demands and the cash that might just save the business. A new comedy inspired by the 1000 Islands!

I absolutely loved working on this show with the incredible Jason Hall. His work is so specific and so responsive to the region; it truly feels like regional theatre at its best. Jason also set out to write a contemporary farce—meaning it would work within a farce structure, but without any of the misogyny or homophobia normally present in a farce. Needless to say, it was a lot of hard work (farces are so challenging!) and a lot of laughs!
