Rob Kempson is a theatre artist and educator, working as a playwright, composer, performer, and director. Most recently, Rob’s play Mockingbird, which he also directed, broke box office records as the highest grossing show in the Next Stage Festival’s history. He was a member of the 2014 Stratford Festival Playwrights’ Retreat, the 2015-16 Storefront Theatre Playwrights’ Unit, and is the past Artistic Producer of the Paprika Festival and the past Associate Artistic Producer at Theatre Passe Muraille. As an artist-educator, Rob has worked for a number of major school boards as well as Young People’s Theatre, Canadian Stage, Theatre Passe Muraille, Pleiades Theatre, Opera Atelier and Casa Loma. He works regularly as a community arts facilitator and curator, collectively creating performances and interactive exhibits with community members. He is currently the Associate Artistic Director at the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque, ON and a Resident Artist Educator at Young People’s Theatre.
